#1 Economic Development

Eldorado has created favorable conditions for utilizing limited resources for expansion of existing businesses as well as the creation of new businesses. Recent new businesses such as a bio-fuel plant, agri-tourism events, hunting lodges and outfitter services as well as a veterinary clinic have bolstered the Eldorado economy making it an excellent opportunity for outside investment and family oriented people. The town’s strength is providing competitive salaries and benefits that are improving Eldorado’s self-sufficiency. There is evidence of a progressive attitude of the town’s business leadership. To attract business that will build a local work force with competitive wages and benefits.

1. To have (1) property available for business development per year.

2.  To have incentives (revised annually) in place to attract (1) new business annually

3. To increase local employment opportunities by 1% annually.

#2 Housing

Living in Eldorado provides affordable housing and property with available sites for development. This provides an opportunity to enjoy the low cost of living in a small town atmosphere with strong family values.

To be known as a community with available, adequate and affordable housing.

1. To increase occupancy rate of existing houses by 3% per year.

2. To have an active housing development authority by the end of 2006.

Our modern and innovative facilities and highly qualified professionals enhance the learning experience of its students. Numerous extra-curricular and scholastic activities backed by continued community support promote excellent school spirit and pride. Eldorado Public School graduates make a difference in the workplace and in their choice of higher education.

1. To have completely renovated school facilities by 2012

2. To increase enrollment 5% each year

3. To increase community attendance at school activities by 10% annually.                 4. To increase the API test scores by 1% annually.

Recreation

Eldorado shows it’s PRIDE as a well landscaped, neat and clean community. It has good streets, facilities for indoor and outdoor recreation and a sense of belonging for everyone who lives here. Eldorado offers clean air, stars and wide open spaces!

To be recognized as the cleanest and most beautifully landscaped small community in Southwest Oklahoma.

1. To have a walking trail and recreational facility available by 2009

3. To reduce the number of uninhabitable lots and structures by 3% annually.

#5 Quality of Life

Eldorado is a healthy growing community with wholesome recreational and community services that meet the needs of all ages. Our excellent emergency departments (fire, police and ambulance), as well as the low crime rate make Eldorado a safe and friendly environment for new business and families of all ages. Community spirit and pride, combined with hard work, enhances the quality of life.

1. To have programs in place that will ensure safe neighborhoods by the end of 2006.

2. To have (1) successful community event annually.
